Mike Matovina is a 2017 MIF/3B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Canton, MI who attends Plymouth. Matovina has a large frame with some strength and room to fill. Defensively he showed solid actions on the infield that project best at 3B. Matovina has a big gather and set up on his throws across the infield with some arm strength up to 81 MPH. At the plate, he starts with a wide base with a high hand set. He has a clean path to the baseball with good bat speed. Matovina uses a leg lift trigger to start his swing and he uses his lower half well in his swing. He showed the ability to drive the ball in BP and also squared the ball up well in game with a double over the center fielders head. Very good student, named to Top Prospect Team.
