2016 Caribbean Top Prospect Showcase
Pedro Maldonado is a 2017 LHP/1B with a 6-1 172 lb. frame from Quebradillas, PR who attends Colegio San Antonio. Slender athletic build with a good frame to add more strength. Very rotational back turn delivery, lands open with his front side causing his long arm action to come through late. Has some raw arm strength, fastball topped at 83 mph, works in the middle of the zone with his fastball, mostly straight. Short slider is more like a cutter in it's depth and action. Threw two different types of change ups, one at 72 mph and a slower one at 62 mph, still developing fell and command of those pitches. Has the arm strength to keep improving with adjustments. Good student.
