Mason Mays is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Amarillo, TX who attends Amarillo HS. Has a large frame, broad shoulders, and present strength in build. Posted a 6.90 second sixty yard dash. From the outfield, moves through the baseball, good arm strength on throws with velocity as high as 85 mph, accurate to the bag. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a wide base and slight crouch in stance. Showed quick hands at the plate while creating leverage that generated good carry of the barrel. Present strength off the barrel and with raw power. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with long arm action. He gets extension out front and an 11/5 shaped cure ball with good spin and break. Athletic player that has interesting raw tools to follow. Excellent student. Named to 2016 South Underclass Top Prospect List.
