Max Gertz is a 2006 RHP/3B from Riverwood High School in Atlanta, Georgia, with a 5'9'', 180 lb. frame. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 to low 3/4 arm slot with a deceptive delivery. Gertz has solid arm speed and stays balanced through his delivery. His fastball topped out at 80 mph with very good arm side run in on the hands of right handed hitters and he jammed several hitters inducing several ground balls. He also threw a 67 mph curveball with an 11 to 5 break, and a 68 mph straight change-up. Defensively he showed solid footwork at third base. At the plate the right handed hitter crowds the plate looking for the ball on the inner half. He is a dead pull hitter who turn well on the inside pitch with his line drive swing plane. Gertz is a contact hitter who is looking to put the ball in play. He is also a good student.
