George Erwin is a 2017 OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Aliso Viejo, CA who attends Crean Lutheran HS. Medium frame with a solid, athletic build and present strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.30 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder with aggressive, compact actions while closing to the baseball. Smooth glove action with clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Releases from a compact, low three-quarters arm slot hat generated some on line carry to the bag, topped at 78 mph. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance and high back elbow set. Shows a naturally lifted plane through extension that produced occasional jump to the gaps when squared. Flashed solid top hand strength when turning the barrel to contact and working to the pull side gap. Repeated swing mechanics well while launching to contact with intent to drive the baseball deep into the outfield. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
