Daniel Becerra is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Smaller frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed hitter with a straight stance, high back elbow set and leg lift trigger. Creates slight front side coil and wrap at load. Creates good shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Compact, direct path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Primarily used a mid-field approach but flahsed the barrel and hands skills to hit to all fields. Worked out defensively form the infield showing fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball. Smooth hands while funneling the baseball out front with clean exchanges. Gets rid of ball quickly with a compact arm cirlce into a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produce accurate carry across the infield topping at 80 mph. Athletic actions while ranging to each side on closing on slow roller. Good student as well.
