Nicholas Hardy is a 2019 C/RHP,/UT with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Pembroke Pines, FL who attends West Broward HS. Large, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with present strength and additional room to fill. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, slightly turn set behind the plate in drills, shows smooth transfer out of glove, extra step with lower half coming out of crouch, tall release, shows nice carry and arm strength on throws to second base, accurate to the base as well. Also pitched and shows upside on the mound, steady tempo during gather before quickening at release, shows rhythm and an easy arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Hides ball well in back, comes out clean and with life to arm side, topped out at 87 mph. Incorporates lower half well, slight cross body at release, stayed down in the zone and flashed an 11-5 shaped curveball, tight rotation with short break. Projects with addtional strength moving forward. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Stays short with swing path through the zone and shows looseness to hands, occasionally gets mistimed with mechanics. Power approach and looks to lift the ball, can continue to get more extension out front at point of contact. Named to Main Event Top Prospect List.
