Joe Volpe is a 2017 3B/MIF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Sea Girt, NJ who attends St Rose. Large frame with athletic, well-proportioned build; body still projects well moving forward. Ran 40 yard dash in 5.21 seconds. Sets up to hit with closed off upper body and overall stance, opens up some in stride and is mostly online at contact, twitchy swing with good bat speed, line drive plane with consistent barrel. Catches the ball out front consistently and drives the ball well, approach is middle-opposite field, good job staying on balance through finish. Short steps to both sides with balance in the infield, fields cleanly both to forehand and backhand, good athleticism in the infield. Good arm speed with quick release, accuracy improved throughout the round, clocked up to 84 MPH across the diamond. Very good student.
