Benjamin Clowe is a 2007 C/OF with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Jacksonville FL, who attends The Bolles School. He has present athletic strength and excellent quickness for a catcher. Clowe ran the 60 in a quick 6.89. His arm strength behind the plate is first rate, as were his pop times, the best of which was a 1.88. Clowe's defensive actions are quick but not smooth and using more efficiency and less effort will make him better in all defensive areas. With that arm strength and running speed, Clowe could play any number of defensive positions well. Offensively, Clowe hits from a very open stance and never closes up his hips. He uses his quick hands and upper body strength to generate good bat speed and can drive the ball hard. He showed bat head skills in making consistent hard contact. Clowe is a quick twitch athlete with very good baseball tools and the best part may be that he can improve in all areas. He's a high ceiling talent who we expect to hear more from down the road. Clowe is also an excellent student.
