Jacob Mercado is a 2017 RHP/ with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Wellington, FL who attends Trinity Christian Academy. Lean, projectable and athletic build with looseness throughout and good room for added strength. Mechanics on the mound are fluid and easy throughout, including loose arm action and overall good repeatability of delivery. Uses his long legs well to drive off the mound and down towards target with authority. Pitches down in the zone consistently and effectively; was able to miss bats and get weak contact with fastball. Worked in the 78-81 range, topping at 83. Works downhill well with FB, showed ability to spot to both sides of plate. Showed quality feel for slider with potential two-plane action as well as changeup with good arm speed and deception. Good student.
