Heath Hopkins is a 2017 3B/MIF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Brown Summit, NC who attends High Point Christian Academy. Hopkins has a medium build with room to fill out. Hits from a slightly open stance with a high back elbow. Leg lift trigger with a slight bat wrap to start. Pull approach with a line drive swing plane, gets barrel to and through ball well. Power will develop with added strength. Defensively, balanced actions, fields out front and works through ball well. Has long gliding strides to ball. Also pitches, short arm action to 3/4 arm slot, has a tight release, straight fastball with occasional down plane. Has smooth delivery up to release point then has effort at release point. Mixed in straight change up. Good Student.
