Ethan Montes is a 2016 C/OF/RHP with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Pasadena Memorial HS. Has a nice strong build with clear sign of present strength in frame. Primary catcher that starts in a low crouch. Good footwork with clean transfers, developing arm strength on throws down to second. From the infield, fields the ball deep and has short arm action on throws across, arm flashed some quickness. From the outfield, generates good momentum through the baseball. Has a big crow hp on throws keeping them low with solid carry. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a wide base and high back elbow. Swing starts with a small toe-tap trigger. Showed bat speed and good strength off the barrel. Will see even more hard barrels as he continues to consistently incorporate lower half. Excellent student.
