Brian Dearth is a 2008 LHP/1B with a 6'4'', 175 lb. frame from Temple City, CA, who attends Temple City HS. Long, lean, athletic frame with projection. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long and loose arm. Dearth has a quick and live arm with projectable velocity gains. He has an online and balanced delivery with a deliberate wind-up. Dearth has good arm speed on his curveball and gets good spin and 70 mph. His fastball topped out at 83 mph with natural cutting action. He also mixes in a 71 mph change with sink. Dearth mixes his pitches well, and is very tough on left handed hitters. Great upside on the mound. Defensively he moves well around the first base bag and shows his loose and easy arm. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a slightly closed stance. Dearth has good bat speed with a good path to the ball. He is a projectable two-way player, but we really like his upside on the mound.
