Gabriel Dorsey is a 2018 SS/C/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Bushnell, FL who attends South Sumter HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.69 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, fundamental while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Flashed solid range to each side with the ability to throw while on the run. Funnels the baseball with clean actions, tends to works glove baseball slightly late. Produced good carry across the infield topping at 86 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from behind the plate showing a low set with good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Gains some ground while working out of crouch to a taller throwing position. Clean glove to hand exchanges and released from a compact arm slot. Throws generated on line carry to second base topping at 79 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.87. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance. Hands stay compact to body at load and launch on a direct path to contact. Barrel works on a level, line drive plane through extension. Primarily utilized a mid-field to pull side approach. Consistently barreled up baseball throughout batting practice, but showed best jump off the barrel when creating separation at contact. Good student. Named to the 2017 National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
