Jake Taylor is a 2017 C/3B/1B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Tecumseh, OK who attends Shawnee HS. Strong well proportioned build, pretty mature physically. Right handed hitter, tall and narrow stance with a good shift into contact, stays balanced and direction well, busy hand load but stays timed, very quick hands drive his swing, line drive swing plane, mid field to pull side approach, repeats mechanics well and makes very consistent hard contact, high average swing approach but can drive the ball on occasion. Polished hitter who hits high quality pitching. Versatile defensive player, receives the ball well behind the plate and works hard, still working on lower half quickness and footwork and will get off balance, long and loose arm action from a quick transfer. Also plays the corner infield positions and would be fine in left field. Hitting and his approach to the game are his best attributes. Very good student, verbal commitment to Oklahoma State.
