Derek Ruff is a 2014 OF/MIF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Lee's Summit, MO who attends Lee's Summit HS. Smaller to medium build, beginnings of some present strength. 7;13 runner, versatile athlete, shows good actions defensively both in the outfield and infield, good footwork and balance, moves through the ball well, some developing arm strength, could end up better at either spot. Right handed hitter, low hands to start his swing, has some hand quickness, tends to get foot down late and hands started late, stays inside the ball, opposite to mid field contact, athletic enough to improve with additional strength. Good student.
