Zach Morrissey is a 2014 RHP/3B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny. Morrissey has a medium sized frame with a lean build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm action. Morrissey has a quick arm and his arm works well. He collapses on his backside and uses drop and drive lower half mechanics. He pitches down in the zone well and throws three pitches for strikes. His fastball topped out at 81 MPH at the showcase, but we've seen him up to 84 MPH since then. He throws an 11/5 curveball and a change up with some run to it. Morrissey showed developing actions on the infield with accurate throws. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance and gets extension in his swing. Outstanding student.
