Riley Self is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Coldwater, MS who attends Magnolia Heights HS. Big and strong athletic build. Simple leg lift delivery, long arm action in back, shows the ball to the hitter, over the top arm slot coming through, fast arm. Fastball to 91 mph, gets very good cutting life on his fastball to the glove side and can get to the glove side at will, also gets lots of life down in the zone arm side with steep downhill angle. Consistent slider release point to his fastball, tight spin and late bite, shows good depth as well. Shows nice feel with his fastball/slider combination and has command. Rare change up is still developing. Mature young pitcher with two quality pitches. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi State.
