2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Jonathan Brown is a 2006 RHP/3B/1B from St. Petersburg High School in Tierra Verde, FL, with a 6'2'', 180 lb. frame. He is a taller and lean player with room for growth. On the mound he throws from an over the top arm slot with long arm action. Brown has solid arm speed and gets a good downward plane on his pitches to the plate. His fastball topped out at 81 mph and he keeps the ball down and out of the center of the plate. Brown also mixes in a 70 mph curveball with 12 to 6 break. He works quickly and throws strikes. Defensively he has nice footwork at the corner infield positions with solid range. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with plenty of movement before the pitch and stands more erect to hit. Brown has a long bat path with some power in his swing. He is an outstanding student with great test scores.
