2015 South Top Prospect Showcase
Anthony Bernardez is a 2016 RHP/3B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Prosper, TX who attends Prosper HS. Large, athletic frame with a broad shouldered build, present strength throughout, well proportioned. Solid runner, posted a 6.86 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, works with a short and quick arm action through the backside, employs an over the top arm slot and is able to generate plane on fastball. Comes out of hand clean, topped at 88 mph and showed riding life. Attacked hitters with a full three-pitch mix, curveball showed 12-6 shape with depth at 77 mph and flashed a changeup for strikes at 70 mph. Same quick arm action across the diamond with higher slot release, shows range up the middle with good carry and accuracy to first base. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow. Short path to the ball, quick through the zone with the barrel and shows a feel for it. Upper body swing, simple approach with nice bat speed and strength up the middle. Named to South Top Prospect List. Very good student.
