Jonathan Groff is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 5-9 190 lb. frame from Castroville, TX who attends Medina Valley HS. Thick strong build. Slow paced delivery with big leg raise, deep arm plunge in back, bit cross body on release, lots going on to create deception for the hitters, arm works well coming through. Fastball topped at 81 mph, gets lots of swing/misses on upper 70's fastballs. Short breaking slider, commands it well, just enough depth to get off barrels, nice feel for change up with sink and run. Three effective pitches and mixes well, knows how to pitch. Left handed hitter, exaggerated open stance, simple swing mechanics with some strength in swing, some uppercut, looking to pull the ball, has some hitting tools. Very good student.
