Zach Sparks is a 2007 LHP/1B from Mc Eachern High School in Powder Springs, GA, with a 6'1'', 215 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Sparks is a big lefty with present arm strength from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a long arm circle on the back side and stays balanced over the rubber with a high leg kick, and gets good leverage. His fastball topped out at 85 mph with occasional late life. His secondary pitches are very effective, especially his changeup that has good arm side fade and sink while maintaining his arm speed. Sparks shows good mound presence, and has projectable velocity that makes him a must follow. At the plate he has a good swing with bat speed. Sparks stays balanced with a short bat path to the ball. He has the chance to be a run producer at the next level, but we really like his upside on the mound.
