Blake Newalu is a 2008 MIF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Henry County HS. He has a medium, wiry build and while he's got stronger in the last year or two, he doesn't project too much strength. Newalu keeps getting faster, he ran a 6.47 in Cincinnati and was consistently 4.3 from the right side on ground balls. His quickness plays in the infield, he has very good range and with his body control and polished footwork gets to a lot of balls. We've seen Newalu at shortstop and his arm strength isn't ideal at that position, but he fields everything smoothly and fluidly and makes plays. Offensively, Newalu has a simple, contact approach that emphasizes using his quick hands and hitting the ball to all fields. He keeps things simple and maximizes his tools and limited physical strength. Newalu has outstanding baseball instincts, plays above his tools and is a winner. He is also an excellent student.

Blake Newalu is a 2008 MIF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from McDonough GA, who attends Henry County HS. He has a medium frame and a lean, angular build. Newalu was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Newalu is a very good defensive player who we've seen excel at both shortstop and second base, although his arm strength is better suited to second base. He has above average body control and quick feet and is always balanced and working through balls. Newalu has also significantly improved his speed and ran the 60 in 6.64. Offensively, Newalu has a simple, balanced approach and uses his hand quickness to spray line drives to all fields. He can handle the bat head and is a smart hitter. He doesn't project much power/pop but should hit for a high average. Overall, Newalu is a winning type player who is going to max out his abilities. He is also an outstanding student.

Blake Newalu is a 2008 MIF from Henry County HS, residing in McDonough, Georgia, with a lean and athletic 5'10"/147 pound frame. Blake hits from a slightly open stance and closes well. He has quick hands and good bat speed with a line drive swing plane. Newalu has line drive power with a smooth swing and is a patient hitter. He runs very well with a 6.89-60 yard. Blake has a strong arm across the infield at 82 mph with good hands. He has a good release and accurate arm with athletic actions defensively. Blake Newalu is a 2008 MIF from Henry County High School in McDonough, GA, with a lean and athletic 5'10'', 147 lb. frame. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Newalu is a smooth fielding shortstop with quickness and agility. He has nice footwork and shows good range, especially to his glove side. Newalu has arm strength with online carry, and his quick transfer adds to his ability to throw out runners. He is a top notch defensive player that can handle either middle infield position with ease. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a narrow stance and a quiet approach. Newalu is a line drive hitter who uses the whole field. He stays short and compact to the ball showing solid bat speed and nice bat control. Newalu is balanced throughout his swing and centers the ball well making consistent contact. With his speed and ability to get on base, he would be a great top of the order hitter. A must follow with very good upside, and he is a very good student as well.

Newalu is a slender 5-8 freshman infielder from Georgia. We’ve seen him add some weight and strength over the last year and he no doubt will continue to get stronger. Newalu is a polished defender at second base with quick feet, nice body control and good arm strength for his age and size. He plays a lot and it shows in his actions on the field and how he moves to the ball. Offensively, Newalu has a simple, balanced contact approach at the plate. He does a good job of centering up on the ball in both batting practice and against live pitching. He should continue to develop as he gets stronger. Newalu is a good runner with some first step quickness, which helps his overall offensive game. He is a definite follow for high level Dis and he has big time playability. As he matures he could become a good draft prospect. Keep an eye on him.

Blake Newalu -- Newalu was one of a couple of 8th graders at the World Underclass and definitely one of the smallest players at 5-5, 115 lbs. This kid has great actions and skills, though, and someone forgot to tell him he was playing among his elders because Newalu plays with an impressive confidence and aggressiveness. Defensively, Newalu can pick it and his arm strength is very, very projectable. He lists himself as a primary second baseman but his arm should be plenty strong enough in 2 years to play shortstop. Newalu’s obviously a bit weak for wood right now but he showed outstanding hand/eye coordination and had a very high percentage of solid contacts. He also had a single and a double in games against live pitching. As Newalu adds some strength and size, he’s going to be quite a hitter. His defensive skills are very advanced.
