Cooper is a 5-10 junior catcher from West Des Moines, Iowa with a wiry strong body that should add size and strength with maturity. Cooper is a good overall athlete with good body life and quickness who could play other positions aside from catcher. He ran the 60 in 7.11 and showed very nice arm strength behind home plate for a junior catcher with 77 mph throw velocities and a best pop time of 1.94. He made a couple of nice game throws, too, and was accurate in both games and in workouts. Cooper is a right handed hitter with good balance at the plate. He gets to the ball quickly with wood and hits through the ball with a high, extended finish. The ball jumps off his bat pretty well and that’s just going to improve with more strength. We also liked the way Cooper played the game; he’s a tough kid who plays hard. He’s going to play at the next level and college coaches should be aware of him. Cooper is also a solid student.
