Andrew Shaps is a 2014 OF/LHP with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Paradise Valley, AZ who attends Saguaro HS. Slender young athletic build, lots of room to get stronger. High level two-way prospect. 7.06 runner, fluid outfield actions, very good outfield arm strength, obvious balance and athleticism. Left handed hitter, still start, short line drive swing with very good bat speed, rotational swing and can improve lower half use, quick hands, ball comes off the barrel very hard, sees the ball and drives it, recognizes pitches, high level hitting tools. Also pitched, works from the stretch, well paced leg lift delivery, extended 3/4's to mid 3/4's slot, long loose arm action, smooth and low effort. Fastball to 87 mph, big sweeping curveball with hard spin, has some present pitchability. Lots to like in every area and projects. Verbal commitment to Arizona State. Good student.
