Ben Larson is a 2014 LHP/OF with a 6-5 175 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Linn-Mar. Larson has a large frame with a long lean build. He pitches from an overhand arm slot with a long arm action. His arm works and the ball comes out fairly clean. Larson uses a high leg lift and stays tall on the backside. He works quick and works downhill well. Larson throws a 12/6 curveball with good bite to it. The velocity projects for more with a few tweaks and strength gains. Defensively Larson has solid footwork and actions in the outfield with nice hands. He uses a good crow hop and has developing arm strength up to 79 MPH. At the plate, Larson starts with a tall stance and uses a toe touch trigger to start his swing. He has a line drive swing path with some bat speed. Larson has solid tools with a projectable body. Very good student.
