2003 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Shea is a slender athlete who has a loose, easy arm and with some strength gains and added physical maturity could develop into a very nice pitching prospect. He first showed us a close to average big league arm during outfield workouts, so we know the raw arm strength is there. Shea only threw 79-81 mph on his fastball off the mound but he threw easy and threw loose and there’s definitely more there. He shows the ability to throw several pitches, both his curveball and slider show lots of promise. Shea also threw a 73 mph change up. He 's a very good student.
