Kalush is a 5-11, 175 lb right handed pitcher from California. We got a glimpse of his arm strength during outfield drills when he threw 85 mph with very good on-line carry and accuracy. Kalush was even better on the mound. He was 84-87 mph for 3 innings of work with a very easy arm action and solid pitching mechanics. His best pitch, though, was a 74-75 mph change up that had excellent running action and very good deception. Kalush also threw a 70-72 mph curveball while striking out 6 hitters. His pitching knowledge and ability to control his pitches were very advanced for his age. Kalush also had a nice showcase as a hitter, going 3-3 in his only game as an outfielder. Overall, this is a nice young pitcher who should have immediate success at the next level with his solid stuff and advanced pitching skills. Kalush is an excellent student with top level grades and test scores.

Steve Kalush is a 2006 right handed pitcher/outfielder from San Mateo, California, with a solid frame. He has a strong build with square shoulders and a strong upper torso. He hits from a wide base with a small weight transfer to his approach. Kalush has raw strength to his swing, and can generate some very good bat speed, and hits pitches on the inner half with real authority. He has pure arm strength from the outfield with good fielding mechanics, and accurate throws to the target. On the mound, he has an easy delivery, and compact arm action in back with a good feel for his change up with good sink. Kalush has a year to go, and shows great promise to get even better, and develop into a very good high level college prospect. Steve is a very good student.
