Austin Buzick is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-3 225 lb. frame from Granite City, IL who attends Granite City HS. Large young build, good lower half strength. Multi-part delivery, some cross body on release, compact quick arm action, tight 3/4's release, hides ball well and has deception, repeats well considering complexity. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph, good arm side running action when down. Shows good hard curveball spin and feel for shape and velocity, hard curveballs have tighter slider shape at times, bigger at lower velocities. Tends to slow body/delivery on change up, gets good sink on change at times. Tries to mix it up and has some developing pitchability. Right handed hitter, semi-crouched stance, big load with a big swing, shows big power at times, has bat speed, free swinger who attacks the ball and looks to drive it, will get long and reach at off speed at times. Has really improved since last spring. Very good student.

Smooth low effort delivery, stays balanced, arm works well, 3/4's slot. Fastball to 79 mph, mostly straight with occasional arm side run, soft curveball spin with consistent short 11/5 break and depth, did not see a change up. Right handed hitter, big load, tends to pull off front side, looking to lift and pull the ball. Good student.
