Thomas is a speedy junior outfielder from Florida. He’s a 6.78 runner in the 60 and has better short distance speed, with a quick first step. Thomas has a simple approach at the plate, showing good balance with a quick, short swing that enables him to get out of the box quickly. Thomas showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields. At this and past events Thomas has shown a good aggressiveness on the bases and is looking to steal and take the extra bag. Defensively, Thomas covers a lot of ground in centerfield. He has some arm strength (81 mph) and can definitely stay in the middle of the field at the next level. He is a very interesting athletic player.

Bennie Thomas III is a 2006 outfielder from West Palm Beach, FL, with excellent (MLB plus) speed and prototypical leadoff man type tools. He’s a fun runner to watch because he glides with very little apparent effort and makes running fast look easy. Thomas has good outfield instincts and is an accurate thrower with some arm strength. At the plate, Thomas hits out of a wide stance and has strong and quick hands. He gets very little lower half involvement and lacks rhythm in his weight transfer right now. Thomas has the physical tools to become a much better hitter and a couple of years to develop those skills. We look forward to seeing him play more in the future. Bennie has a chance to become a special player with a pro future.
