Ryan Lockwood is a 2006 outfielder/infielder from Lutz, FL with a medium build that shows good core strength at 5-10, 165 lbs. He didn't run the 60 at the National but is a plus runner with first step quickness who usually hits out of the leadoff spot at top level events. Lockwood has very good arm strength and is a top level defensive outfielder with centerfield type range. At the plate, Lockwood hits from the left side out of a spread stance with a small timing stride. He's an aggressive hitter who attacks the ball with very good bat speed. He has a pull type approach and will tend to pull off balls on the outside half of the plate. History at WWBA events show that Lockwood will lay off these pitches and work counts to get on base in the leadoff roll. He's an aggessive base runner who will steal bases and disrupt the defense, too. Overall, Lockwood is a high performance player who plays to his strengths. He's an excellent student who has committed to Florida.
