2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Lambert is a very slender left handed hitting junior first baseman from Maryland. He has good athletic bounce and is a 7.03 runner in the 60. Lambert showed very good defensive actions at first base with above average range and soft hands receiving the ball. He should be a standout at a position we often don’t pay enough attention to defensively. At the plate, Lambert has some raw bat speed for his slender build and shows the ability to control the bat head and make solid contact. He tends to drift through the ball to contact, which limits his extension and causes him to roll over a pitch at times. More strength could turn Lambert into a solid offensive performer. Lambert also pitched briefly, showing a 68-71 mph fastball. Lambert is a very good student.
