Ross Smith is a 2006 OF from Dodge County HS in Eastman, GA, with a 6'2", 185 lb. frame. He has good present strength and plenty of room to fill out and get stronger in the future. Smith is an exellent defensive outfielder, with very good 6.6 speed and a pro level arm with very good accuracy. He looks like he can excel at all three outfield positions. Offensively, Smith hits with his weight back and a short stride to the ball. He uses his hands to hit and has good bat speed and a line drive swing plane. More extension out front will unlock his power potential. Once he's on the bases, Smith's speed and athletic aggressiveness make things happen. This is an athlete with tons of upside potential that he's just beginning to tap, especially on offense. Smith has signed to go to Auburn.
