Ian Clarkin is a 2013 LHP/1B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends James Madison HS. Very good athletic build, strong and projectable. Big leg raise delivery, high 3/4's arm slot, fast arm, not consistent with release point, throws downhill well. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 91 mph, have seen up to 93 mph, mostly straight, can work down in zone more consistently. Big breaking curveball, has spin and depth, good arm speed on change up, occasional soft slider looks like cut change up. Very good athlete, didn't hit but has position tools. Good student, verbal commitment to San Diego.

Ian Clarkin is a 2013 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends James Madison. Clarkin has a large frame with a strong athletic build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long loose arm action. His arm works well and he has good arm speed. Clarkin gets arm side run on his fastball when it's down in the zone and really attacks hitters with it. He threw a curveball with 1/7 break with tight spin and bite to it. Clarkin showed good feel for it in his 3rd inning once he got settled in. He has a deceptive change up and has feel for it. Clarkin throws 3 pitches for strikes and works quick. Committed to San Diego, good student.

Leg raise delivery with hands away from his body, full arm circle, quick pace, somewhat cross body on release. Live fast arm, fastball topped at 89 mph with nice run and sink, slows arm on curveball, change up also still developing, tends to work slowly and nibble and pitch from behind.
