Nick Nordgren is a JC OF/LHP/1B with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Norway IA, who attends Indian Hills CC. He has a very projectable, lean build, even at 20 years old, and hasn't started getting strong yet. We've seen Nordgren play for years and his tools are coming together very well. He has a long, lean body that's just starting to fill out and get strong. Nordgren's run and throw tools are Major League level. He's a 6.50 runner with long, graceful strides that cover huge amounts of ground in the outfield and has a plus arm (91 mph in drills) to go with it. Nordgren's defensive fundamentals and balance are solid and he makes accurate, on-line throws. Offensively, Nordgren is a switch-hitter who only batted right handed at this event. He has a loose, fluid swing with lots of bat speed and extension. Nordgren attacks the ball aggressively and showed no problem handling highvelocity fastballs and pulling them with authority. He projects a ton of power in the future as he learns how to recognize pitches and get some more lift in his swing. Overall, Nordgren is a high ceiling physical talent with all the tools and makeup to succeed in professional baseball. This could be the year that he gets his chance to go out. If not, Nordren has signed to attend Creighton.

Nick Nordgren- OF- Jefferson HS, Cedar Rapids, IA- 6'3"/170. Nordgren showed his speed running a 6.77-60. He also showed range in the outfield, and threw 81 mph from RF showing enough arm and athleticism to play any outfield spot. Offensively, he has a lively bat with power potential from the right side. He is a switch hitter, but has a much smoother swing from the right side. Nordgren has a high ceiling, and we can see him elevating his game over the next few years to be a top MLB prospect. He is headed to Indian Hills CC, so some club might want to DNF him.

Nordgren is an athletic and projectable 6-3, 170 lb athlete from just outside Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He ran the 60 in 6.76 and got down to first base in 4.31 from the right side and really uses his speed well in centerfield. With his very good arm strength (80 mph), instincts and speed, Nordgren is a first rate defensive player. At the plate Nordgren has been taking up switch hitting and is still in the development stage left handed. He really swung the bat well from the right side, though. Nordgren gets excellent extension out front in his swing and has the bat speed and leverage to drive the ball a long way. When he fills out his lanky 170 frame he could start really putting up some power numbers. Nordgren also threw a couple of innings. His fastball was mostly 78-80 mph, topping out at 81, with very good running and sinking life. He showed good feel for a 69 mph change up but it looked like he was throwing his 63 mph curveball with a stiffer shoulder and less extension out front. Nordgren has signed with Indian Hills CC in Iowa but we see this young prospect as a potential big time Division 1 player at some point in the future.

Nick Nordgren is a 2005 outfielder/left handed pitcher from Norway, Iowa, with a very athletic 6'3", 170 lb. frame. He runs very well with outstanding instincts and feel for the game. Nordgren shows a strong arm in the outfield, and could easily throw better if he didn't throw across his body. He has the actions to easily play any of the three outfield positions. At the plate, he is a switch hitter that normally hits from the right side. He shows easy power from both sides, and is going to hit at the next level and hit with power. He shows a smooth swing with plus extension, especially from the right side. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed. His fastball topped out at 81 mph with some arm side run. He's been as high as 85 before. He also throws a 69 mph breaking ball with good arm speed. Nordgren's change up is solid at 72 mph with good action and could become an out pitch. Nordgren is a potential two way player at a highest level college.

OF/LHP Nick Nordgren: Nordgren is a young looking junior from Iowa who has been a regular at Perfect Game and WWBA events. In fact, he was a potential MVP candidate at the WWBA World Junior Championship in Fort Myers last fall after both throwing a shutout and hitting a key home run during the playoffs. Nordgren has grown at least 2 inches since then, most of it at first glance in his legs, and is now a loose and athletic 6-3 at least. This young man has tools all over the board and is going to keep getting better as he adds strength. His swing from the right side (Nordgren is listed as a switch hitter but hit from the right side at the Showcase) is loose and fluid and his swing path has some natural lift to it. We’re projecting him to hit with good power in the future. Nordgren runs well (6.99 in the 60) and showed very good arm strength from the outfield at 84 mph. In fact, the only thing we aren’t really upbeat about Nordgren right now is his pitching. He was throwing in the low 80’s as a sophomore and the 84 mph outfield throw is a good indication of his raw arm strength right now as a junior, but he’s only been in the mid-70’s during Spring League and at the Showcase. Of course, he's just coming out of a grueling basketball season. Nordgren’s makeup is off the charts as well. He’s a top flight Division I prospect.

Nordgren is an '05' LHP/OF from Iowa. At 6'2/160 he is lean, athletic and extremely projectable. He does everything near MLB average already and he's going to get much better as he grows. His overall running, throwing, and body type remind you of 2nd rounder Ryan Sweeney at the same age. He hits and he hits with power. He throws left and hits right, but he's a natural LH hitter who will probably end up switch hitting. While he may not be as far developed on the mound, that may be his future. His arm action and overall pitching ability are outstanding. We fully expect him to throw upper 80s before very long. Nick is a big time prospect who will continue getting better and better because of both his physical ability and championship makeup.
