2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
RHP Nick Erdman: Erdman is a 6-4 junior right handed pitcher from Iowa with the chance to be a solid pitcher at the next level if he keeps improving. Erdman showed us his arm strength from the outfield during drills, hitting 83 mph on the gun, and carried the same sort of velocity to the mound for three innings. He topped out at 84 mph and was consistently in the lower 80’s. Erdman had good command of his fastball and had nice sinking action to the pitch and occasional cutting action as well. His breaking ball was a 68-70 mph curveball that had fair spin and bite to it. We wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t take a step forward over the next year and emerge as one of the better high school pitchers in Iowa as a senior.
