Austin is a young, strong, extremely projectable 6-2/175 lb. "sophomore" catcher from Port Matilda, Pennsylvania. He shows exceptional arm strength at 77mph to second base from a sophomore. His pop times were 2.03 to 2.09 with good online carry. He has good balance and footwork behind the plate with athletic actions. He has nice soft hands, he's an excellent receiver and projects to get better yet. He hits from the left side with strong hands and a solid approach. He is a gap-to-gap hitter with a line drive swing plane. He can hit with wood and squares up well. Definitely one to watch closely in the future. Could end up being one of the top catchers in the country for the "06" class. Austin is a very good student.
