Michael Vaughn is a 2007 C/1B/RHP from Hopewell HS in Cornelius, NC with a 6'2", 215 lb. frame. Michael has a strong build and produced a good pop time of 2.02 and a fastball topping out at 85. At the plate, Michael uses his raw power to drive the ball from gap to gap. Michael has good present strength in his swing but often lacks rhythm and tends to reach for the ball. Michael's best position on the field was at catcher. Behind the plate, Michael has a good catchers build and showed off an accurate arm with a consistent release. On the mound Michael throws from a high 3/4 slot with medium effort. He keeps the ball low in the zone and has good depth on a 12 to 6 CB. His delivery is somewhat herky jerky and could throw harder if he tightened up mechanics. Michael's game is based on his raw power and he looks like he could be a solid catcher at a mid-level Division I School.

Michael Vaughn is a 6'1" 182 pound 2007 corner infielder and right handed pitcher from Cornelius, North Carolina who attends Hopewell High School. He can hit and should hit for power at the next level. A right handed hitter, he has very good bat speed and shows very good hand strength. He has a very good approach and lets the ball get deep in the zone. He can really turn on the ball and should only get better. In the field, he showed good glove actions and a clean release. He has a decent arm which he showed by throwing 74 mph across the infield. Vaughn also threw off the mound and topped out at 78 mph with his fastball and 63 mph with his curveball. He will fill out soon and should keep improving. Michale was named to the Top Prospect game and is a very good student as well with a 3.8 gpa.
