2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
McDonnell is an "04" OF/RHP. At 5'11/185 he is strong and somewhat stocky. He runs very well and has good instincts. He has a playable, but not exceptionally strong outfield arm. He does a nice job in the field but his #1 tool by far is the bat. He stays inside the ball with a nice swing that creates bat speed from the left side. He's more of a line drive guy that could end up hitting with a lot of power. The ball really jumps off his bat and he has no problem handling the wood. He hit a ball foul in the game that got out of the park in a hurry. He's got some juice. Michael might really develop at the next level.
