Matthew Gavin is a 2010 RHP/2B/OF with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from St. James, NY who attends Smithtown East. Lean and long athletic build. Deceptive delivery, repeats well, arm is smooth and loose, over the top release point, excellent downward plane to the plate, good extension out front. FB topped at 84 mph, some arm side run. Good depth on hard curveball, nice sinking action on change. Throws strikes with all pitches, works in and out, polished pitcher. Upper cut swing hitting, consistent contact, has some bat speed, good hand extension. Good student.
