LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2003 Western Underclass Showcase
Martin was the hardest throwing southpaw at the Western Underclass, touching mid 80s frequently. What we like the most was that the ball jumped out of his hand with no resistance and it wouldn’t surprise us if Martin throws much harder in the future. His arm stroke and delivery are very solid for his age and Martin had no trouble repeating his delivery and throwing consistent strikes. Martin threw 2 different types of breaking balls. He’d occasionally cut his fastball at 75 mph and although we don’t think he’s thinking slider when he throws it, it has the chance to become a good pitch for him in the future with further development. Martin’s 64 mph curveball definitely has the chance to become a solid pitch for him, it has sharp break and tight spin to it right now and he just needs to add some more velocity to it to make it a strikeout pitch. He has a bright future as a LHP or as a very good LH hitter (he can really swing the bat) at a highest level college. Tony is an excellent student.
