Matt Kurtz is a 2006 first baseman/outfielder from Harvard Westlake High School in Encino, California, with a 6'3", 180 lb. frame. Kurtz has a presently strong body with sloped shoulders. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with an upright and straight away stance. Kurtz shows solid bat speed with some strength in his swing from a line drive swing plane. He throws his hands well and shows very good bat control. Kurtz is a pull hitter who loves the ball on the inner half. Defensively he has good footwork and moves well around the first base bag. Kurtz has a chance to be a power hitting first baseman at the next level. He is also a good student.
