Kyle Ocampo is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Riverside Poly HS, residing in Corona, CA. Ocampo has a lean, wiry, lanky build on his a 6'3" 185 lb. frame that is quite projectable. His stuff can be flat out electric at times and was good enough to have him ranked #26 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. Ocampo pitches from an over the top slot and has a very quick and loose arm. He cranks that arm up with a lot of leverage, starting with deep extension on the backside, gaining arm speed all the way throughout his arm arc. There is some head action as his arm come through to release, but for the most part, he is pretty free and easy. Perhaps a slight lowering of his slot would eliminate much of that head action, maybe even creating more life on his fastball. In any case, Ocampo's fastball was quite lively as it is, showing up to 93 mph with a range of 87-92. His fastball seemed hot at the plate with late life. Ocampo appeared to have more than one type of breaking ball, but in retrospect, all were likley curveballs, ranging from 70-79 mph with plus spin and hard downward bite. The thing that made all of them seem to be curveballs was that the shape did not really change, no matter the velocity. Ocampo also showed good feel of his 81 mph change-up that has nice fading action. All of his stuff has movement and late life, making Ocampo one of the more interesting pitchers in this high school draft class. He would appear to have more in his arm due to his pretty lithely built body and quick arm. He has committed to Cal State Fullerton but will also be a highly scouted pitcher by Southern California scouts, possibly even drawing some crosschecker attention.

Kyle O'Campo is a 2007 RHP with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Corona, CA, who attends Riverside Poly HS. O'Campo was one of the top two pitchers at the event and participated in the Perfect Game National Showcase. He has a tall, lean, and athletic frame with projection. He throw from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose and easy arm action. He has a quick arm and throws with minimal effort, and is balanced and online with his delivery. His fastball topped out at 91 mph while working in the 87-91 range. He gets very good arm side run on his fastball making him tough on RHH. He struggle with the release point on his curveball during his first inning, but he found his release in the 2nd and his curveball was tough. O'Campo fills the strike zone with strikes with both his fastball and curveball. He is an excellent pitcher with great stuff that has a great future on the mound. He is a must follow.

Kyle Ocampo is a 2007 right handed pitcher from Corona, California with a tall projectable pitchers body at 6'2", 175 pounds. He has long arms and legs, and big feet with good potential to get taller yet. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with very loose arm action and good extension. He has sound mechanics and the ball explodes out of his hand. He has an aggressive attack attitude and goes right after hitters, with no fear of throwing inside and breaking bats. His fastball topped out at 87 mph with good run. He has a small developing slider at 76 mph that was very sharp at times. He has a good feel for his change at 74 mph with sink. Ocampo has good command of all 3 pitches. He has excellent pitchability and he is only a sophomore. Kyle has unlimited potential and could be a very high draft prospect in 2007.
