Jose Rodriguez is a 2007 OF/1B/3B with a 6'2'', 215 lb. frame from Hialeah FL, who attends Hialeah HS. He has a big and strong athletic build, with good proportions and the chance to get even stronger. Rodriguez is surprisingly athletic for his size, running the 60 in 6.93 and showing loose actions and lightness on his feet. He's a solid outfielder with a strong, accurate throwing arm and could play either of the corner outfield positions at the next level. He has also played the corner infield positions in the past. Offensively, Rodriguez hits out of a wide stance with no stride into the ball. He takes a hard, aggressive swing and creates very good bat speed and leverage at contact. The ball jumps off his bat hard. Rodriguez doesn't have any real rhythm to start his swing; if he added this he could really blossom as a hitter. Right now he's pretty much just overpowering the ball and he has the strength to do that. Rodriguez is a good student who has signed to go to South Carolina.

Jose Rodriguez is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Hialeah HS, residing in Hialeah, FL. He has a strong, athletically proportioned body on a 6'2" 195 lb. frame, with a developed lower half. Rodriguez has strong raw abilities and was ranked #33 among PG National Top 100 position players. He is plenty capable of showing better than that on certain days. Rodriguez hits from a square stance. Even with a pretty aggressive nature and aggressive swing, he does a nice job of staying fundamentally sound. He has very good bat speed and more often than not, the ball jumps off his bat. Rodriguez has good present day power that today comes out as line drives with carry. He does a nice job of letting the ball travel and staying in the middle of the field. He is the type of hitter that can be late on a swing and still have hit come off the bat hard or get beat on a pitch and flip it over the infield for a knock. In the outfield he showed arm that tracked very well and a strong average raw arm strength. His full defensive skill set fits a corner spot, likely best in left field. Rodriguez ran 4.42 home/1st and posted a 7.03 60 time. It is not likely that he gets much faster, due to the nature of his present day physical development. He is a high end D1 prospect and will also likely have a chance to sign a professional contract next June. His development time as a player may be best taking place in the pro ranks.

Rodriguez is a 6-0 right handed hitting sophomore outfielder from south Florida. He has an outstanding body and frame for a 2007 graduate with broad shoulders and strong hips. Rodriguez ran the 60 in 7.38 and showed good arm strength for a young player from the outfield at 79 mph. What this young prospect can do is hit the ball very hard. He hits from a wide stance with high hands and limited load and weight shift. Rodriguez generates excellent bat speed with ideal extension through the ball and the ball just explodes off his bat. We graded him a 10 out of 10 for power potential and he hit some bombs in batting practice and some solid line drives in the games. Rodriguez really has a high ceiling as a hitter and could be something special. His other tools are solid for his age and he looks like he enjoys playing and plays aggressively. Top follow.
