Josh Upchurch is a 2005 outfielder/right handed pitcher from Cape Coral, Florida, with a 6'0", 170 lb. frame. He is a very athletic player with quick actions. Defensively he has a quick arm with good accuracy and arm strength. He is a left handed hitter with strong hands and good balance. He squares up the ball well with a gap to gap approach. He ran a 6.86, and showed his speed on a triple to the right center field gap. Upchurch also pitched at the event. He had to throw earlier than planned because of an injury to the pitcher pitching before him. He showed good arm speed from the mound with a fastball that topped out at 82 mph. He threw from a 3/4 arm angle with a short arm circle in the back. Upchurch is an athletic two way player with good all around skills. Josh has signed with Florida Gulf Coast.

Josh Upchurch is a slim very athletic looking 5'11/165 OF/RHP from Cape Coral, FL. He's a plus MLB runner with 6.5 60 speed. His arm strength is CF MLB quality and shows good carry and accuracy. He's very fluid in the field with excellent OF actions. He hits out of an open stance with an inside out type swing. It's slightly long but it's a smooth swing that creates bat speed. Josh projects real well and will get much stronger as he gets older. With his natural ability he could end up hitting the long ball. On the mound he topped in the mid 80s, but we've seen him throw better from both the mound and the outfield. He has a very quick arm. Josh can play at the highest levels of college ball and should end up with a pro future. He is a good student.

Josh Upchurch is a 2005 OF/P from Cape Coral, FL. Upchurch was one of the better prospects at the Sunshine East and earned an invitation to the Perfect Game National based on his performance and tools. He’s a prototype centerfielder/lead off hitter in both tools and his approach to the game. Upchurch is a 6.6 (or better) runner in the 60 with very good first step quickness and an aggressive attitude on the bases. In addition to his range in the outfield, Upchurch has solid arm strength and good, low on-line carry on his throws. Offensively, Upchurch is a left handed hitter with a spread, quiet approach at the plate. He’s patient on balls out of the strike zone, but has good bat quickness and surprising power for his size and hitting style. He showed the ability to take the outside pitch hard to left field. Upchurch also showed some arm strength off the mound, hitting 84 mph with his fastball and spinning a good 67 mph curveball. Overall, this is a solid major Division I ball player with pro potential.

Upchurch is an "05" OF/RHP from Florida. At 5'11/150 he is very lean and projects nicely. He runs very well, it's a plus MLB tool. He has an outstanding arm and he's an excellent athlete. He hits Left Handed out of a high knee kick set up. He's a leadoff type hitter with some power projection. He's much stronger than he looks. On the mound he looked very good throwing FB, CB, CH. All quality pitches. Fastball 86 with good sinking action. Good breaking ball (downer) at low 70s. Change shows good tailing action at 77 mph. He has a quick fluid arm and gets excellent leverage. Hard telling how hard he might throw as he gets bigger. Definitely an "05" to follow. Good 2-way guy for now!
