Johnny Dishon is a 2007 OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Beaumont, TX, who attends Bridge City HS. Johnny has a very athletic build and is one of the better athletes in the class of 2007. At the plate Johnny shows very good bat speed with nice power projection. He tended to hit around the ball some at the showcase and he will need to work on his balance and leverage. He should show quality gap to gap pop once he is in college. In the outfield Johnny showed tremendous tools with great footwork and feel for the game. He has impressive speed and enough arm strength to play any position. Johnny is an outstanding athlete that should have a big college career ahead of him.

Johnny Dishon is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Bridge City HS, residing in Beaumont, TX. He has a 5'11" 175 lb. frame that is both strong and athletic, with a particularly developed lower half, suggesting explosiveness. Dishon ranked #34 among the 2006 PG National Top 100 position players. His explosive raw ability likely will have him consistently rising up lists this spring. Not a polished player yet, Dishon showed some innate ability offensively that suggests he should hit for some power. He set up with an open stance and showed very aggressive hands, sometimes a little overusing his hands. In his zone Dishon has good raw power and at times showed that enough selectivity to suggest he can access that power on a pretty regular basis. With good bat speed and his strength, Dishon is going to hit for some power as he develops more consistent timing at the plate. Defensively he has well above average raw arm strength, nearing plus as he got up to 91 mph from the outfield. With his 6.56 60 speed, look for his range to also develop into above average. Dishon also ran 4.45 home/1st, slower than his raw speed, due to an aggressive swing. His tools are draftable and projectable.

Johnny Dishon is a 2007 outfielder/catcher from Bridge City, Texas, who had perhaps the best raw physical tools at the showcase. His skill level is way behind his tools at this point, but it’s a lot easier to learn how to play at 15 than to suddenly develop a whole bunch of professional level tools. From the outfield, Dishon showed us solid average Major League arm strength at 88 mph, and his 6.8 speed in the 60 would enable him to play at any outfield position. Behind the plate, Dishon’s arm strength and quickness was even more impressive. He had a couple of pop times under 1.90 and is just pretty to watch throw. Dishon hasn’t caught extensively, but if he stays with the position and develops his fundamentals as he physically matures, he’s the type of athlete who could be regularly throwing in the 1.70's with no problem or stress. Offensively, Dishon generates good raw bat speed from the right side, but it’s hard to quantify him because of his approach. Dishon has the relatively unique combination of a wide spread stance and a high lead leg kick trigger. This doesn’t do much either for his timing or his balance and leaves him long to ball. He’ll hopefully grow out of this as he gets older and sees more upper level pitching that he can’t handle on raw talent. Dishon is a top talent with a high ceiling.
