Jim McGonigle is a 2006 right handed pitcher/outfielder with a long lean projectable pitcher’s frame and high waist at 6-3, 180 lbs. He pitches from a H ¾ slot with a loose easy arm action and clean delivery. His delivery is very low effort and highly repeatable. His fastball topped at 84 mph with arm side life and downward plane. His 72 mph slider was his best pitch showing good depth and deception with the same arm action as his fastball. His change showed good sink with fade and he shows great feel for it at 71 mph. He likes to work inside and really knows how to pitch. His body and athleticism projects very well and translated into a good showing in the OF and at the plate as well. His future is on the mound however and he has a very high ceiling as a pitcher. He is a must follow prospect for 2006. Jim is a very good student.

Jim McGonigle is a very slender 6'3" outfielder/pitcher in the 2006 class from Houston, Texas. He showed some speed and arm strength in the workouts, and looked to be a good defensive outfielder. At the plate, McGonigle hits from a spread stance with very, very low hand position. McGonigle also pitched three innings and might have more long term potential on the mound. He’s not physically strong enough now to generate much velocity, but he has sound delivery mechanics and his arm is loose and fluid. McGonigle topped out at 78 mph on his fastball and 63 on his curveball, and also threw a 61 mph change up. McGonigle also threw 82 mph from the outfield.
