Colton Plaia is a 2009 C/1B with a 6'1'', 190 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends J Serra Catholic. Plaia has a bigger frame with a solid build. He has some present strength with a proportional build. Defensively, Plaia has some arm strength with some carry on his throws down to second base. He works hard behind the plate and has solid blocking skills. Plaia sets up well behind the plate and has good receiving tools. He makes accurate throws on the base and had solid game throws and pops. At the plate, Plaia starts with an open stance with high hands. He maintains good balance through his swing and generates some bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat and he has juice in his swing. Plaia gets good extension out front and makes consistent solid contact. He has a big finish in his swing and gets lift and leverage at contact. Plaia has a good swing and can really hit. Solid player.
