JeLaney Johnson is a 2010 MIF/OF with a 5'4" 120 lb frame from Duluth, GA who attends Northview HS. He has a slender build with lots of room to add strength. Jay is a switch hitter who swings the bat hard and has good bat speed for his size. He is very aggressive and attacks the ball early in the count. He hits with a closed stance and has a short load and stride which enables him to keep his hands back and wait for his pitch. He is very selective and seems to be a good lead off hitter. In the field, Johnson has very quick active feet. He has very soft smooth hands and plus actions. His throws are always online and he does have some arm strength which he showed off by throwing 75 across the infield during the workout. Jay is a good looking young prospect who needs to be watched as he matures and gets stronger.
