Showed good arm action and arm strength from infield and outfield. Ball shows carry and comes out clean. At the plate, lets the ball travel and attacks it with a big power swing. Looks to pull the ball. Makes good contact and the ball comes off his bat well. Lots of power potential. Over the top arm action on the mound. Slow to plate with long arm action. Showed consistent fastball velocity and flashed a curveball as well. Good student.

Mark Hernandez is a 2012 1B/RHP with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Florida Christian HS. Hernandez has a big, strong frame with wide hips and shoulders; good durable build. Good feet around first base, good coming off the base to field, can pick it out of the dirt. Imposing figure at the plate. Hits from an open stance, handles the ball on the inner half of the plate well, best contact is on this part of the plate where he has power and leverage. Power really projects for him and will increase with more use of his strong lower half. Throws from 3/4 arm slot on the mound, big presence on the hill. Shorter arm stroke, comes through clean, stab in back. Mixes in an 11-5 curveball that flashes good tilt. Named to Top Prospect Team.
